Have you ever wondered why many hymns in our bulletin also include a word or phrase written in all caps in parentheses? These are the tune names. You may have noticed that you sometimes know a tune, but the words are completely different from what you remember. Various tunes (especially familiar ones) are sometimes set to different texts, just like when you were a child and learned The Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Yep... same tune. Our first hymn this Sunday is in our hymnal, set to the tune BREWER, but we will sing it to the HYFRYDOL tune.

Listen to this Sunday's hymns below!

We Have Come at Christ's Own Bidding (HYFRYDOL)

Jesus, Take Us to the Mountain (UNSER HERRSCHER)

Let Us with a Gladsome Mind (MONKLAND)

*In case you’d like to hear it, here is the tune BREWER, mentioned above.

2/8/23

We are blessed to have many musical talents in our church... from the choir, to our pianist, to our string players and vocalists, even other members of our congregation. This Sunday, Ken and Robyn Greene will be filling in to lead us through hymns along with the help of the rest of our music ministry team... and maybe a little help from the congregation too!

Listen to this Sunday's hymns and anthem below!

O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee (MARYTON)

Though I May Speak (GIFT OF LOVE)

Make Me a Channel of Your Peace (PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS)

Anthem: Lead Me, Guide Me

2/4/23

This Sunday's anthem "Here I Am, Lord" is a favorite hymn among many in our congregation. The stanzas you'll see in Sunday's bulletin represent the voice of God, while the refrain is the faithful human response to God's call.+

Here in This Place (GATHER US IN)

Christ, Be Our Light

This Little Light of Mine

+Glory to God Hymnal, 2013

The choir is sharing a beautiful arrangement of "Jesus, Take All of Me/Just As I Am" by Heather Sorensen. This song invites us to commit our lives to the Lord. Tune in to Facebook Live to hear the full service this Sunday at 10:30am CST.

Be Thou My Vision (SLANE)

Lord, You Give the Great Commission (ABBOTT'S LEIGH)

This Sunday's anthem is a setting of John B. Foley's "Come to the Water." Based on passages from Isaiah and Matthew, the text summons all who thirst, seek, toil and long for the Lord. It provides comfort and consolation to all Christians.*

At tbe Christmas Eve service, a few people asked about the prelude that was sung. I did not have words added to the bulletin, so I thought I'd share this beautiful story here of The Night When Love Was Born. You may be familiar with the tune to which it was sung, LONDONDERRY AIR (better known to some as the song Danny Boy). Click here to read the words. Words for the Christmas Eve anthem have also been included.
