Future
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
The world today is quite different than the world in which we all grew up. Whether you grew up in the 1990’s, 1980s, or the 1950s, we can all agree that the world is monumentally different today. But some things haven’t changed. Parents still worry about their children’s future. Grandparents still wonder what kids today will do with their future. And teens still feel completely immortal. Some things never change. Wars still rage, children still starve and the poor still cry out for good news.
Today is the future. We have a choice today. Will we live out the promise we have in Christ? The promise of salvation, the promise of God’s reign on earth where The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. (Matthew 11:5) We are called to live out this promise of hope and healing today; the future depends on it.
See you Sunday,
Missy
