Zeitgeist

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1)

Zeitgeist – noun. German. Spirit of the time or Spirit of the Age.  Literally “time mind or time spirit”

What is the ‘Spirit’ of this age? The Zeitgeist of any generation or society is more than popular thoughts and attitudes. There is a powerful spirit that permeates our society. And it’s not good. We choose every day whether to immerse ourselves in this spirit grounded in fear and hate. We can see this zeitgeist manifest itself in our community, schools, businesses and even our homes? We are not immune.

We must choose to embody the Spirit of God, which is readily available to all who trust in the Lord. Imagine if our society’s Zeitgeist were anchored in Christ. Actions would flow from love, courage, and faith. It begins with us!

By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
