Reverend Missy Rose

Pastor

Reverend J. Michelle “Missy” Rose grew up on a farm in Hardeman County, Tennessee and has lived in the Memphis area for her entire adult life. She attended the University of Memphis on a marching band scholarship and earned a BA degree in Psychology. She then began a 13-year career in restaurant management before leaving her job to begin seminary. She graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary with an MDiv. in 2008.

She began her ministry as a youth pastor in Bartlett, TN. She also co-pastored a New Church Development in Midtown Memphis 2007-2016. This ministry consists of a house church with a contemplative Celtic style of worship and a strong focus on urban missions. This congregation seeks to live out the incarnational presence of Christ in today’s world.

In 2011, she became the supply pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Kennett, Missouri. In 2016 she was received into the Presbytery of the Mid-South from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and installed as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Kennett. As pastor of the Kennett congregation, she worked to facilitate a renewal in the health and vitality of this long-established congregation. By empowering the members to recognize and develop their gifts in ministry, the congregation has been able to grow, not only in attendance, but spiritually as well.

Her mother still lives on the family farm in Hardeman County and her sister, brother-in-law and twin nephews live in Düsseldorf, Germany. Traveling to visit family, sailing, and cooking are just a few of her favorite pastimes. Her dog, a border collie mix named “Jack,” can often be found next to her side in work and play.
