Take a Few Minutes

A pilgrim looked at the reflection of a mountain in still water.
It was the reflection that first caught his attention.
But presently he raised his eyes to the mountain.
Reflect me, said his Father to him, and then others will look at you.
Then they will look up, and see me.
Remember, the stiller the water the more perfect the reflection.

Stillness. It seems as though this should not be a difficult state to achieve. But think about it. How often do you manage to still your mind, your body, and your spirit (while still remaining awake)? Watching television is often my substitute for ‘being still’. But that stillness is just an illusion. Truly being still is something we are meant to do. We are built for this. It’s only when we quiet our minds, turn off the TV, and put down our phones, that we can be truly free.

I could go on and on about why you should take a few minutes everyday to get quiet, be still, pray, listen, etc. But what you will find in these moments I honestly have no words to describe. Scripture says it best, “Be still, and know that I am God.” My prayer for you is that you will find the time and the courage to ‘be still” each day.

See you Sunday!
